The Wodynski Challenge

There is no-one like Dave. Without trying, he changed those around him. He made you feel like an old friend instantly and laugh hysterically; but he had layers--and he was the first person you called to take care of your kids, your house, or your dog.

He got more out of his time than most people because he lived, worked and played passionately...and brought us along with him. Whether it was pulling an all-nighter in "The Tower"; competing vigorously at pub trivia; or taking his nephew "Little Dave" to Disneyland; he seized the moments he had with people relentlessly and left an indelible impression upon them.

While time will tell us what to do next without our good friend Dave, some of his friends have suggested the following to get us through the week. Please feel free to add to the list and join us in honoring his one-of-a-kind approach to life.

Join Us to Honor Dave:

  • Monday: Start Your Beard (no morning shave)
  • Tuesday: Liberate Your Feet--Day without Socks
  • Wednesday: Badge of Honor--Pen and Highlighter Clipped to Front Pocket or Button Down
  • Thursday: Bring Your Sweater to Work Day
  • Friday: No Ties Allowed
  • Saturday: Memorial--Flip Flops and Shorts
Other Dave-like Stuff to Do This Week:
  • Signature: "Peace" (end all emails and phone conversations the Wodynski way)
  • Music: Anything 80's (with a heavy dose of Peter Cetera)
  • Beer: Budweiser (are you kidding me)?
  • Literature: The New Yorker (you have to read it at least once in your life)
  • Entertainment: West Wing (all the way back to the pilot)
  • Food: Chile Quiles (no chicken knuckles allowed)
  • Slogan: "Forget About It"

There are no words that anyone could possibly say to make sense or ease the pain of the tragic death of Dave. I worked with him at various times, though obviously nowhere near as much as many, and I find myself in utter disbelief and shock. I can't even imagine how those that were his friends as well as being coworkers are able to comprehend what has happened. I know you and he were close, and I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your personal loss. He touched many lives, and those lives will never be the same -- in that way, he lives on.
    Kind Regards,Jeff B.

  9. Dave was my friend, partner in crime, mid-week drinking buddy, outstanding teammate, and at times gallant antagonist. I asked him to marry my wife and I and he eagerly accepted. No one could have done the job he did that day. He was the perfect man for the job. I honestly believe that his was the first ever Bryan Adams quotation used in a wedding ceremony. The post-wedding budweiser he shoved in my mouth as soon as we finished walking down the aisle is a classic shot of Dave being Dave. I love him and miss him more than my words could ever express. He will forever be one of my starting defensemen. PLUBS brother!
